About the only thing we can say about Carley is that it was love at first sight. Carley was one of six Staghound puppies we fostered at five weeks of age during the summer of 2002. She was part of a rescue of puppies and adults from a puppy mill here in North Florida by an all-breed rescue person. We had no intentions of keeping any of the pups but as she grew, she just became part of our family and we knew this big "whippet want-to-be" could never go anywhere else. She was home. Her favorite things walking between your legs to have her back scratched, playing with the sprinkler system (while it is running), and running with the whippets. Incidently, she loves to chase the lure, following it completely her first time out.
The story we here is that Stags are a 150 year old breed but not recognized by the AKC. They were originally a combination of Greyhound, Borzoi, Irish Wolfhound and Scottish Deerhound. They have wonderful temperments and unbelievable personalities. Like a whippet, they are a breed you certainly fall in love with and they leave you wanting more.
