Frankie at Sixteen Weeks with Two Broken Legs

What can I say.....Frankie was the love of my life! From the moment he was born I loved him, but I sadly and mistakenly let him go thinking I already had a great male out of Pauline and opted for his sister Lexie instead. Then when Frankie was 16 weeks old, Michael got a late night call from his owner saying Frankie had broken both of his front legs and what did he want done with him? A trip to go rescue Frankie followed that fateful phone call, and he had been heavily drugged, his legs not set at all. Michael stayed up with him all night coaxing him out of his stupor knowing that he could not withstand the anesthesia required for surgery in that condition, and when it was safe several excruciating hours later that morning, I took Frankie to the Vet where his legs were repaired with rods, screws and plates (long story short)! Lexie went back to Michael, Frankie came home with me and he never left!

For 6 months I carried Frank up and down our stairs in the old house and needless to say, we formed such a bond I can't even tell you how strong the heavy-duty Velcro was connecting the two of us! He never left my side and there was hell to pay if I went out of his sight for even one second (oh yes, that includes bathroom breaks and everything else imaginable too), lol! Frankie loved Bobby also, but regularly yelled at him almost as if to say, "She was mine first, you can have her on loan but only for a minute!"

He stayed glued to me til the day he died, unbelievably breaking those same legs 10 years later as he tried one last time to sail over the 6 foot fence to chase the bunnies, as he had so happily and easily done way too often over the years, much to my chagrin!!! I could not bear to have him in pain yet another time, so he spent his last hours in my arms, and I brokenheartedly let my angel go join Tempo at the Bridge. I still have not recovered.....
