My experience in dogs is long and varied. I have shown dogs since 1967. have finished championships on the following breeds: Alaskan Malamutes, Akitas, Standard Schnauzers and Greyhounds. I bred and owned the top winning Alaskan Malamute in 1973-1974. He was the first Malamute to go BIS on the East Coast. I also owned his daughter who was the top winning bitch in 1977. I have owned and bred Akitas since 1981, owned the #3 Akita in 1982. I have bred and owned the #2 Akita bitch in Nation 1983 or 1984. I have finished championships on 5 Akita pups we have bred. I am strictly a hobbyist breeder and exhibitor. We have bred 12 litters in 25 years. All our dogs are owner handled by my husband Wayne, except on occasions that he's not available.

I am currently licensed to judge the following breeds: Alaskan Malamutes, Akitas, Boxers, Standard Schnauzers, Giant Schnauzers, Samoyeds and Siberian Huskies, and of course Junior Showmanship.

I have admired the Whippet for many years. My Greyhounds were also very special to me. My last Greyhound died in June 1987 and I hope someday to replace her with a Whippet. I hope also to judge this wonderful breed in the future.

JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION

NOVICE JUNIOR CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 10 years old and under 13 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Places in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.

NOVICE SENIOR CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 13 years old and under 17 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Places in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.

OPEN JUNIOR CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 10 years old and under 13 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Places in a Novice Junior Showmanship Class at a licensed or member show.

OPEN SENIOR CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 13 years old and under 17 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Places in a Novice Junior Showmanship Class at a licensed or member show.

Junior handlers who win a third Novice Class after the closing of entries for a show may transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class provided that this transfer is made by the Superintendent or Show Secretary at least one half hour prior to the scheduled start of any regular conformation judging or one half hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the show, whichever is earlier.

KENNETH M. NAGLER

Ken Nagler is a retired meteorologist whose principal interests for many years have involved dogs. Ken and his wife, Nan, got their first dog in 1956, a Dalmatian. Sparky's obedience training was started by Nan in the fall of 1958 and was taken over by Ken in early 1959. Sparky got his Utility Dog title in December, 1961. In all, Ken has obtained 25 obedience titles, including six UD's (five Dalmatians and a Poodle).

He has been an obedience instructor for more than 25 years and is the train ing director of the Canine Training Association, a large hobby dog training club. And he has been an American Kennel Club obedience judge since 1971.

The Naglers have shown their dogs extensively in conformation, too, and have finished championships on eight Dalmatians and a Standard Poodle. Ken has also been active in the Hyattsville Dog Training Club, the Rock Creek Kennel Club, the Washington Poodle Club, the Greater Washington Dalmatian Club, and the Dalmatian Club of America, in which he served six years on the Board of Governors.
