AMERICAN WHIPPET CLUB, Inc., FUTURITY CONDITIONS

The Futurity will be sponsored by the AWC and is exclusively for the competition of puppies and juniors between 3 months and 15 months of age.
The Futurity is open to all breeders of purebred AKC registered Whippets in good standing with the American Kennel Club.

3 Bitches nay be nominated at any time between the BREEDING and WHELPING dates. Only puppies whelped by nominated bitches AFTER the date of nomination are eligible. The date of the Post Office cancellation stamp on the envelope will determine the date of nomination. A fee of $ 10.00 shall accompany the nomination of each bitch.

After the bitch is nominated, the LITTER must be nominated on a litter nomination sheet ant the fee is $ 15.00. The LITTER must be nominated before it's 3 months old (except the 3 to 6 month class). The Post Office cancellation stamp on the envelope will determine that this nomination has been made prior to the date the litter reaches 3 months of age.
After the litter has been nominated and has reached 3 months of age, individual puppies may be nominated. The nomination fee for individuals is $ 9.00. There is no limit as to how many puppies from a litter may be nominated. individual puppies may be nominated anytime after the litter is 3 months old and until the closing date of the Futurity.
FUTURITY CLASSES will be divided according to age and sex as follows:

Puppy Dogs, 3 - 5 months Puppy Bitches, 3 - 5 months

Puppy Dogs, 5 - 7 months Puppy Bitches, 5 - 7 months

Puppy Dogs, 7 - 9 months Puppy Bitches, 7 - 9 months

Puppy Dogs, 9 - 12 months Puppy Bitches, 9 - 12 months

Junior Dogs, 12 to 15 months Junior Bitches, 12 - 15 months
The winners of each class will compete for Best in Futurity

In the event that a change must be made in the show date, then the original date shall be the one used in determine eligibility of nominees. Should the show date be set after the original date, then the age limit shall be increased to take care of the differences in time from the original date to the revised date and the nominees affected shall still be eligible for competition in the Junior Class.
Nominations of bitches, litters, and individual puppies must be accompanied by checks or money orders made payable to the AWC , Inc.
Entry Fees will be retained in the event a nominated bitch or puppy is found to be ineligible under the above conditions.
The Futurity Judge will be chosen by the Futurity committee.
If the breeder of the class winners and the Best in Futurity winner is not present, the money won will be mailed directly to the breeder.
At least 35% of the entry fees will be retained by the Futurity committee for expenses. The remaining entry fees will be divided between the breeders of the class winners and the breeder of the Best in Futurity.

After retaining 35% for Futurity expenses, 35% of the remaining money will be paid to the breeder of the Best in Futurity. The remaining 65% of the entry fees for each class to be divided as follows:

First in each class .........................................	40%
Second in each class ...................................	30%
Third in each class .....................................	20%
Fourth in each class .....................................	10%

Prize money to be awarded to breeders only. If the exhibitor of a winning dog is not the breeder and the breeder is not present, a check will be mailed to the breeder.

All dogs for the 1993 Futurity must have been whelped on or before January 28, 1993 . Bitches must be nominated while in whelp. Litter must be nominated before 3 months old and individuals may be nominated anytime after 3 months old and the closing of the Futurity.

Mary Beth Arthur

Mary Beth Arthur's involvement with Whippets has spanned the past four decades. Since 1963, along with her parents, brothers and husband, "Marial" Whippets have successfully competed in conformation, racing, obedience, tracking and coursing, winning hound groups, specialties, NPRs, oval race meets, obedience trials and Continental Whippet Alliance (CWA) competitions. Her goal is to maintain the versatility of the Whippet as a beautiful and intelligent athlete. She is licensed by the AKC to judge Whippets and Junior Showmanship.

A recipient of the AWC's Certificate of Achievement in 1989, Mary Beth has served on the AWC's Board of Directors since 1972, holding every officer position, during her tenure. She has been breed columnist for the AKC Gazette Pure-Bred Dogs since 1980 and prepared drawings and explanations for Illustrated Whippet Standard. She is Chair of the AWC's Education Committee.

Mary Beth is pictured with her husband, Doug, and one of her dual-purpose standouts, Ch. Marial's Whitewater, C.D., ARM, ORC (winner of 40 NPRs and #1 NPR racer in 1987).

Jean Balint

Born and raised in England I came to America with my husband Vincent, in 1962. I have been involved with breeding, showing and racing Whippets since 1969. Under the prefix "WYNDSOR" I have bred 5 show champions, 30 sprint racing champions, 21 oval racing champions and 10 lure-coursing champions.

I joined the American Whippet Club in 1971 and served on the board for three years.

I am very proud to be associated with a breed I love, respect and admire - "The Whippet"

The Ch. Fenwick of Whippoorwill Memorial Trophy, a Pewter Pilsner Trophy offered by Barbara L. Henderson, VMD, in loving memory of Top-Producer Ch. Fenwick of Whippoorwill.

This trophy is established to maintain a lasting record of Futurity winners and will remain in permanent custody of the club. It will be engraved yearly with the name of the dog judged Best in Futurity.

The Best in Futurity winner will retain a Pewter Bowl representing the Memorial Trophy as a memento of the Award.
