SCHEDULE OF POINTS FOR DIVISION 6 - EFFECTIVE MAY 17, 1994
 Division 6 is comprised of: Iowa , Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Wisconsin.

The Points towards a Championship shall be awarded to the Winners Dog and Bitch of each breed or variety based on the actual number of dogs or bitches competing in that breed or variety.

If the dog designated Winners Dog or Winners Bitch is also awarded Best of Breed or Variety, the dogs of both sexes that have been entered for Best of Breed or Variety competition and that have been defeated in such competition, shall be counted in addition to the dogs that competed in the regular classes for its sex in calculating championship points.

If the dog designated Winners Dog or Winners Bitch is also awarded Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed or Variety, the dogs of its own sex that have been entered for Best of Breed or Variety competition that have been defeated in competition for Best of Opposite Sex, shall be counted in addition to the dogs that competed in the regular classes for its sex in calculating championship points.

After points have been computed for Winners Dog and Winners Bitch subject to the above two stipulations, the dog awarded the Best of Winners shall be credited with the number of points calculated for Winners Dog or Winners Bitch, whichever is greater.

In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, or that is dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge, or from which all awards are withheld shall not be included. Any dog which shall have won fifteen points shall become a Champion of Record, if six or more of said points shall have been won at two shows with a rating of three or more championship points each and under two different judges, and some one or more of the balance of said points shall have been won under some other judge or judges than the two judges referred to above.

THE PLUMCREEK WHIPPETS

OWNER, LINDA LARSON

The Plumcreek Whippets began in 1966 when Linda Larson leased Traymatt Spinning Wheel from Barbara and Josephine Steinberg. Linda sent Spinning Wheel to Traymatt Ponderosa Pine. The resulting puppies carried the Larel prefix. A short time later, Linda changed her kennel prefix to Plumcreek to honor Plumcreek. Iowa-- the small town where her mother first taught school.

It is probably safe to say that correct structure and sound movement are hallmarks of the Plumcreek Whippets. It was Ellsworth Gamble who influenced Linda to concentrate on these qualities in her dogs. While observing Mr. Gamble judging Whippets and Greyhounds at the Chicago International, Linda realized that while he always appreciated the finer points of a Whippet, such as a beautiful eye, it was correct movement and structure that Mr. Gamble sought in his winners.

Ch. Larel Traymatt Cohosh. CD is behind many of the Plumcreek Whippets, but perhaps Linda's most notable breedings were the five she did to Ch. Misty Moor's Chalmondoly. Linda bred Plumcreek September Romance ROM (by Laguna Leisure ex Larel Traymatt Camass) to Chummy twice and Plumcreek Black Ternstone went to him three times. From those breedings came two of the breed's prominent stud dogs, Ch. Plumcreek Chimney Swift CD, ROMX and Ch. Plumcreek Chase Manhattan. Chimney Swift in turn, sired the late great Ch. Plumcreek Walk On Water, ROMX. There can be no denying the influence "Rapid" has had on the breed. His correct front assembly and effortless movement are seen today in many of his children and grandchildren, and are continuing proof of his strength as a sire.

Probably even more important to the Plumcreek breeding program is the strength of the bitch line which includes such producers as Ch. Plumcreek Diamond Girl, Ch. Plumcreek Like The Night, Ch. Plumcreek Belissema, Ch. Plumcreek Lady Amhurst, Ch. Plumcreek Reflection, Ch. Plumcreek I Am The One, and untitled, but beautiful, Plumcreek Black Murr.

In recent years, Linda divides her time between the Whippets and the training and exhibiting of American Saddlebred Horses.

Dr. John C. Shelton

I was born in the state of Pennsylvania. When I was two years old my parents gave me a Smooth Fox Terrier. While in high school I saved my own money and purchased a female German Shepherd Dog. She was my companion throughout high school, college, and graduate school. While I was in graduate school at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, my late wife, Ann, and I bred Collies. On one occasion when I attended the Finger Lakes K.C. show on the Cornell campus, I saw my first Whippet. I felt he was the most beautiful animal I'd ever seen. Naturally, he went Best in Show that day!

In 1964, when I finished college, I moved to the San Francisco Bay area of California to take a position in the Chemistry Department at California State University at Hayward. At this time I began to breed Toy Poodles. However, my interest in Whippets was rekindled when a friend purchased one. In 1966 I purchased a young bitch from the Bardon Kennel. I added a young male from the same kennel shortly thereafter and I was off and running, so to speak. Most of my time and effort went into confirmation, but I did race some of my Whippets back in the late 60's and early 70's.

I renewed my interest in the Smooth Fox Terrier breed while attending shows with my Whippets. In 1968 I purchased a young bitch, Ch. Pathens Some One Special, who finished in four shows, including Montgomery County and Devon K.C. (very large Terrier shows) at 8 1/2 months of age. She went on to be the top producing bitch in the history of the breed.

My main breeding and exhibiting has been with Whippets and Smooth Fox Terriers, of which I bred and finished many champions. I have also had Borzois and Greyhounds, though to a lesser extent. I used the kennel name " SHERIDAN". In more recent years I have bred and finished several Miniature Poodle champions.

I began to judge in 1973. I am presently approved to judge all Hounds and Terriers, about half the Toys, and Poodles in the Non-Sporting Group. I have judged all over the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, South Africa, and Colombia. I have judged the Smooth Fox Terrier National Specialty Show at Montgomery County K.C. in 1989.

I was a member of the Mensona K.C. and their Delegate to the American Kennel Club for twelve years. I am presently an active member of the Del Valle Dog Club, the American Whippet Club, and the Northern California Terrier Association.

KENT DELANEY

Kent became involved with pure-bred dogs before he was a teenager. Starting in 1952, he has been a breeder, trainer and exhibitor of Boxers. In 1959, he added Afghan Hounds to his household and now lives with a Shih Tzu and a cat. Kent has shown his dogs in Breed, Obedience and Junior Showmanship classes.

He began judging Novice Obedience in 1966, received his Open license in 1969 and his Utility license in 1971. Kent also judges in the breed ring--starting with Afghan Hounds in 1974 and now all the Hound Breeds. Other breeds he judges are Chihuahuas, Italian Greyhounds, Maltese, Poodles, Shih Tzus, Yorkshire Terriers, Schipperkes and Tibetian Terriers. He is also approved to judge Junior Showmanship and Best In Show.

In the breed ring, Kent has been blessed with many wonderful Whippet assignments. Having judged several American Whippet Club specialty shows and supported entries: including Ravenna, 1984; American Whippet- Western, 1987: Agathon, 1989: American Whippet- Eastern, 1990. He has also judged Whippets at the Westminster K.C. show in 1991.

In the Obedience ring, Kent has judged the Obedience classes at the National Specialty shows of the following Hound breeds - Afghan Hound C.O.A., Basset Hound C.O.A., Bloodhound C.O.A. and the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States. Next month Kent will be judging the Obedience classes at the 100th Anniversary specialty show of the Dachshund Club of America.

Kent is the Treasurer and Obedience Chairman of the Lake Shore Kennel Club and a lifetime member of the South Side All-Breed Dog Training Club.

THE AWARDING OF A SELECT ROSETTE ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THIS ANIMAL WAS UNDER CONSIDERATION FOR BEST OF BREED OR BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX. THE JUDGE IS INDICATING HIS RECOGNITION OF AN EXCEPTIONAL ANIMAL WHO COULD, ON ANOTHER DAY, MERIT A TOP AWARD.

THE AMERICAN WHIPPET CLUB ALLOWS FOR TEN SELECT AWARDS TO BE PRESENTED IN ADDITION TO BEST OF BREED AND BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX. THE JUDGE MAY AT HIS DISCRETION, AWARD ALL OR NONE OF THE ROSETTES. RECEIVING A SELECT AWARD IS INDEED A SIGNIFICANT HONOR.
