OBEDIENCE CHALLENGE TROPHIES

Unless otherwise specified, the Challenge Trophies are offered for the Highest Scoring Whippet from the Regular Obedience Classes. Challenge Trophies are offered under the following conditions: To be won three times by the same exhibitor, not necessarily with the same dog, for outright ownership. Dogs may be owned by the handler of by any other person. Until won permanently, the Trophy will remain in the hands of the American Whippet Club.

REGULAR OBEDIENCE CLASSES

NOVICE A CLASS: For dogs six months of age or older that have not won the C.D. title. A dog that is owned or co-owned by a person who has previously handled a dog that has won a C. D. title may not be entered in this class, nor may a dog be handled in this class by such a person. Each dog must have a different handler who must be the owner, co-owner or a member of the immediate family of the owners. The same person must handle the same dog in all exercises.

NOVICE B CLASS: For dogs six months of age and older who have not won the C. D. title. Anyone may handle the dogs in this class and a person may handle more than one dog, but each dog must have a separate handler for the Long Sit and Long Down exercises. No dog may be entered in both Novice A and Novice B at any one trial.

OPEN A CLASS: For dogs that have won the C.D. title but have not won the C.D.X. Obedience judges may not enter or handle dogs in this class. Each dog must be handled by its owner or by a member of his immediate family. Owners may enter more than one dog in this class, but the same person who handled each dog in the first five exercises must handle the same dog in the Long Sit and Long Down exercises.

OPEN B CLASS: This class is for dogs that have won the C.D. or C.D.X. A dog may continue to compete in this class after it has won the title U.D. Dogs may be handled by anyone. Owners may enter more than one dog. No dog may be entered in both Open A and Open B at any one trial.

UTILITY CLASS A: This class is for dogs that have won a C.D.X. but not a U.D. Obedience Judges or persons who have owned, trained or exhibited a dog that has earned an O.T.Ch. may not enter or handle dogs in this class. Each dog must be handled by its owner or by a member of the owners immediate family. Owners may enter more than one dog in this class.

UTILITY CLASS B: This class is for dogs with a C.D.X. or U.D. Dogs may be handed by the owner or any other person and owners may enter more than one dog in this class. No dog may be entered in both Utility A and Utility B classes at any one trial.
