Drake was a once in a lifetime dog. How fortunate we were to have had the privilege to share our lives with such a dignified stallion of a dog for 13 short years. He will forever be our inspiration. His presence is deeply missed in our home.

For a time Drake held the record for Specialties won by a Whippet in the United States with 5. Three times BOS at our AWC National Specialty. The first was from the classes in 1990 under breeder-judge Ms. Carol Willumsen. The final act was last year under Mr. Kent Delaney to retire two challenge trophies. The crowd support from this win will always be a cherished memory.

Drake topped numerous stud dog classes. The most rewarding was at the 1992 AWC National under breeder-judge Ms. Peggy Newcombe, with littermates Ch. Chelsea Catalina (fresh from her BOW victory at the same event) and Ch. Chelsea Antpodes, LCM (2n d Select on the day) standing behind him.

From a breeder's standpoint, the Extended Stud Dog class is very meaningful. Drake garnered many wins from these events as well. The most memorable was at the 1998 AWC National Specialty with the impressive line up of Ch. Chelsea Bulgari, JC, ROM, Ch. Rhode Paved With Gold, ROM and the young Ch. Chelsea Gold Rush of Keynote, SC, FCh, ROMX (fresh from his WD victory at the same event) standing behind him.

Of course Drake's lasting legacy will be as a sire. His offspring are tagged with his trademark smoothness, generous angulation and sweetness of nature. As of this writing, Drake has sired 60 champions with many nearing the completion of their titles. He is the sire of FOUR All breed BIS winners on FOUR continents. An unparalleled achievement.

Lastly, we wish to thank everybody who have sent cards and letters mourning Drake's passing. To know he touched so many lives is humbling. Drake didn't know or care that he was famous. He did know, however, that he was loved by those important to him. Isn't that all any of us could ever want from this life? For that he was indeed a lucky dog.
