Whippet Futurity
To be selected to judge the. American Whippet Club Futurity is certainly an honor I am so pleased to be able to have this wonderful opportunity to have hands-on experience with so many of the finest Whippet puppies our breed has to otter 1 would like to thank all of the wonderful friends that I have made in the Whippet world for their help and support.
My first pure bred dog was a black Miniature Poodle. From there I graduated to Great Danes and was "bitten " by the dog show bug! My first Whippet was purchased from Pam Porter (Paleo) when my children asked for something that they could show. I was totally taken with these wonderful, elegant crea tures. While I haven't bred a large number of Whippets, I have bred a few champions, obedience title holders, coursing title holders, finished dogs front other breeders and have been involved with Whippets tor 25 years. So I guess you could say I was active in both conformation and performance. That should cause some of you to have apoplexy. With the help of my handler and mentor C. L. Eudy, have also become a breeder of St. Manchester Terriers. I have bred group winners, two all- champion litters and the top producing St. Manchester Terrier brood bitch of 2003.
While I don't often venture into the show ring myself I have judged several all-breed matches, and 2 Whippet sweepstakes. I have attended many AWC. National Specialties,, and of course 8 years of the Futurity as Chairman. I long ago decided that the exhibition of my dogs should be left to professionals or friends who enjoy the process. 1 have always enjoyed watching my dogs more than exhibiting them myself
Currently my husband and I are empty nesters" except tor our Whippet and Manchester children. We are also new grandparents or a wonderful baby boy, G rayson Henry Jones. We're proud to say that Grayson attended his first dog show at 3 weeks of age and is owned by a Whippet and St. Manchester Terrier:

Parsley was imported from the English Baydale Kennels of Shelia Fenwick and her late mother, Mrs. L.M. Blair - Hence Fenwick's name and that of his equally famous sister, BIS CH. lady Blair of Whippoorwill. They were from a litter of eight (six dogs and two bitches), from which CH. Whippoorwill Larkin of Exeter and CH. Foxcroft of Whippoorwill also completed their championships. Fenwick was a handsome red and white dog with good substance, beautiful head and eye, a wonderful personality and temperament. He has passed many of these qualities on to his offspring. Fenwick has sired at least 24 AKC champions. He has offspring which are Field Champions and Obedience titled. Several offspring have also participated in the ARM program. Some of his famous offspring include CH. Rolling's Viktor, CH. Whippletree's Raisin Cain, Am. Can. CH. Allerei's Portia, and her triple titled littermate Am. Can. CH. Allerei's Jensen, Am. Can. CD, Am. Can. FCH and CH. Baywood's Renaissance. He is the grandsire of CH. Saxon Shore Amber Waves and of BISCH. O'Bailee's Brittania. Fenwick has left a living legacy through his offspring and his name appears in the pedigrees of many top winning whippets today. The CH. Fenwick of Whippoorwill Memorial Trophy is being offered by his breeder/owner, Barbara L. Henderson, VMD and will be a perpetual record of Best in Futurity winners. This trophy belongs to the AWC as this record. The owner of Best in Futurity will receive a separate trophy as a memento of the win. |

Rosettes will be awarded for First through Fourth Places. Best in Futurity will receive a Pink and Green Rosette.
Requirements
Open to all breeders of purebred Whippets who are in good standing with AKC. Bitches must be nominated before whelping. Only puppies whelped by nominated bitches after the date of nominations are eligible. A fee of $15.00 will accompany the bitch nomination. The litter must be nominated before it is 3 months old, accompanied by a fee of $20.00. Individual puppies must be nominated anytime after 3 months of age until closing date of the Futurity. Entry into the regular classes of the futurity is considered as the individual nomination. The individual fee is $12.00. Entry into the Specialty classes IS REQUIRED.

Trophies
The Ch. Fenwick of Whippoorwill Memorial Trophy: The AWC will retain possession of this trophy. The win ner of Best In Futurity will be engraved on a wooden base that accompanies the trophy. The owner of Best In Futurity will receive a separate trophy as a memento of the win.

Class Trophies
First In Each Class: American Whippet Club, Inc. Medallion offered by the American Whippet Club.
Second, Third, And Fourth In Each Class: American Whippet Club, Inc. Charm offered by the American Whip pet Club.
Prize Money
After retaining 35% for Futurity expenses, 35% of the remaining will be paid to the breeder of Best In Futurity. The remaining 65% of entry fees will be divided as follows:
1st in each class — 40%
2nd in each class — 30%
3rd in each class — 20%
4th in each class — 10%
Prize money for class winners and Best In Futurity shall be awarded to the breeder/breeders only. If the owner or exhibitor of the winning dog is not the breeder and the breeder is not present, a check will be mailed directly to the breeder. It is between the breeders, exhibitors, and owners to decide possession of any ribbons, rosettes, medallions, or other prizes presented for any wins.
