Obedience Challenge Trophies

Unless otherwise specified, the Challenge trophies are offered for the highest scoring Whippet from the regular Obedience classes. Challenge trophies are offered under the following conditions: To be won three times by the same exhibitor, not necessarily with the same dog, for outright ownership. Dogs may be owned by the handler or by any other person. Until won permanently, the trophy will remain in the hands of the American Whippet Club.

Jersey Rag Racers Association, Inc. offers a Perpetual Trophy that consists of a brass Whippet figurine on a wooden base to the highest scoring Whippet in the regular or non-regular classes of the Obedience trial ALSO com peting in Conformation regular or non-regular classes. This perpetual trophy is to remain in the possession of the Club. An engraved picture frame is offered by Jersey Rag Racers Association, Inc. for the winner of this perpetual trophy to keep. NOTE: Dog must compete in class, not just be entered.

The Dodger Challenge Trophy: Brass with bronze overlay Whippet statue mounted on a base with a plaque. Offered by Joan Lessor in honor of 3 time AWC High In Trial Winner, "Dodger", Ch. U-CDX Deeps Woods Light Brigade, UD.

Judy Byron Challenge Trophy for HIT: A Whippet statue holding a dumbbell on a wooden base designed by Dannyquest and offered in memory of Judy Byron by the subscribers of Whippet-Talk.

11th Annual AWC Triathlon

Judge: Mrs. Crystal McNulty

The AWC Triathlon competition was developed to recognize whippets that excel in three areas of competition: conformation, lure coursing and obedience or agility. The 11th annual competition is open to all whippets entered in eligible Conformation, Obedience/Agility Classes and Lure Trial Stakes offered at the 2005 AWC National Specialty in Phoenix, Arizona. To acknowledge the dogs that excel in all three areas of competition, there will be 10 placement awards.

2005 AWC NATIONAL TRIATHLON RULES AND SCORING

The total raw scores for all three events will be added together. At the completion of obedience competition on Tuesday, the dog with the highest point total will be declared the 2005 Triathlon Champion.

CONFORMATION: The base score for conformation is determined by the judge in the Triathlon conformation class. A numeric score will be given utilizing a Conformation Score Sheet based on the breed standard having a perfect score of 100. The 4 top scoring dogs will be ranked first through fourth place which will break any ties at that time. The high scoring dog will be High Score in Conformation (HCS). This is not an actual award but is utilized in the case of breaking ties as listed below.

LURE COURSING: The base score for the Lure Coursing portion of the event is the total final perfect score of 400 points.
OBEDIENCE: The base score for the Obedience portion of the event is the highest total points earned in any single-dog entry Obedience Trial Class. NOTE: Non-qualifying scores are utilized in calculating the total score. The base score for obedience is a perfect score of 200 points.

AGILITY: As an option to obedience, TWO Agility scores (any Jumpers and any Standard class) of 200 maximum total points can be used instead of an Obedience Score. Entries in both Agility and Obedience are acceptable and encouraged. No numeric scores are given for NQs. In the event one dog qualifies in two different classes, only the highest placing class will be used for tiebreaker points.

BONUS POINTS

There will be no Bonus Points awarded for placements. The Total of the raw Scores will be used. In the case of a tie, placements will be utilized for tie breaker points. Placements will be given points of 4, 3, 2, and 1 for First through Fourth Place in a four-dog or more class. Only 1 point will be awarded for a one-dog class, 2 points and 1 point for a two-dog class, and 3 points, 2 points, and 1 point for a three-dog class. BIF, BIM, HIT and HCS will be utilized as final tiebreakers, used only after all placement tie-breaker points have been awarded.

OBEDIENCE CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS

Championship points will be recorded for those dogs which have earned a First, Second, Third, or Fourth place ribbon competing in the Open B or Utility B Class according to the schedule of points established by the Board of Directors of The American Kennel Club.
In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, or is excused from the ring by the judge will not be included.

Requirements for the Obedience Trial Champion are as follows:

The dog must have won:
1. 100 points;
2. A first place in Utility B with at least three dogs in competition;
3. A first place in Open B with at least six dogs in competition;
4. An additional first place under the conditions of 2 or 3 above;
5. All three first places under three different judges
ONLY one of the required first places may have been won at a Specialty Show.

JUMP HEIGHT CARD

All dogs competing in Agility must present a valid official Jump Height Card.

For dogs two years and older, Owners/Handlers must present a permanent height card at check-in or be measured

prior to competing.

For dogs under two years of age, the Owner/Handler must present a temporary height card at check-in or be meas-

ured prior to competing.

Dogs that do not have a Jump Height Card, will be measured by a Judge of record for that trial and will only be effec-

tive for that set of trials, excluding the dogs jumping in the 24-inch height division.

Misrepresentation of a dog, including altering information on a Jump Height Card, is grounds for misconduct. Exhibitors should carry the original valid official Jump Height Card at each trial to present upon request.

In accordance with Chapter 2, Section 3 of the Regulations for Agility Trials, dogs wicketed by the judge of record

may not be moved down in jump height.

In order to receive prizes, dogs must receive a qualifying score.

Each dog receiving a qualifying score shall be awarded a dark green rosette.
