Sangaree's Wee Tristina "Tina" (1970-1980)

Tina was sired by French import Sarnovaroff Triumph out of Dahnkhar Celia(Pennyworth, Meander, Great Circle). She was my first Whippet. Having Borzoi, I met a pair of Whippets at a lure course and fell in love with them. A few months later, Tina entered my life unexpectedly. I had gone with a friend to Northern California to pick up a Borzoi pup she was getting from a breeder. We didn't know he bred a little of everything, from all the Sighthounds down to owning a pair of cheetah's and other exotic animals. It was a weird placeto say the least. I saw his Fench import Whippet and mentioned I'd like to have one someday. He insisted I go look at his puppies. So down we went into a dark basement where several bitches of different breeds were in whelping boxes. He showed me a litter of five week old whippets and told me to take any one I wanted. My selection of Tina was rather unique, I picked her because she had the least ringworm covering her little body! Tina was a dear little whippet that had a great time coursing with my Borzoi bitch and was part of my life for ten years. I made a good choice I thought. She instilled in me a love for the breed which has only grown in the last thirty years.
