Rinda & Rikki

Rinda Clark has shared many great pictures with WhippetView over the past year and they make up a major
part of the current race pictures on the racing pages. She has been working on her web site for some time and if you have not visited her site, you should really go for a look. I have had Rikki
for four years but had a very nice little male for about 3 months 12 years ago. Whippets are the breed of my heart and I feel very lucky to be sharing my life with one.
I have received a great deal of guidance from Claudia Stratton of the Sunhill kennel . She has been a wonderful mentor and friend. Always ready to listen to my problems - whippet related or not!

Rikki loves to go shopping! Her first trip to Petco was when she was very small, just 11 weeks old.
She needed to pick out a toy and there was this sale. . . . To make a long story short she has since always
done her own shopping. She will go into the store and greet any human who will look at her. This completed she will go down the dog "cookie" isle and the toy isle looking and poking everything.
Majority of the time she will pick up a pig ear. With this in her mouth it is the 'I saw a bunny' yank over to the counter, place front
feet on the counter and show pig ear to the salesperson then begin the same tug to get me out the door. Makes check writing an event. She
won't eat the pig ear until we get home. If there is any kind of action going on she will poke, set the pig ear down, and poke it with
her nose. This sets the magic no-one-can-see-it sheilds at which point she is safe to run and play and the pig ear will always remain
where she left it because no one can see it. Being an only child, this works in her world. There are so many totally whippet things she does
that show why I love this breed so much!

I would like to see the future move towards more multipurpose
whippets. I feel a whippet should be able to do anything asked of them whether it be showing, agility, flyball, sprint racing, oval racing, lure coursing, companion dog, pet therapy dog or just sleeping on my bed or sofa. We have the best breed of all! Most of you whippet owners already know this. I love the versatility of this breed and the same amount of versatility in the people that own them.

I appreciate all of the wonderful people who care for this breed by
doing rescue, mentoring, chairing committees, judging shows, putting whippet events on, line judging, foul judging etc. (I could go on and
on!)
